Big Basin
Sometimes you live in an area practically your whole life and you realize that there are places and things that you have never scene. Big Basin in the Santa Cruz mountains was just that for me.
Malaya and I took a lazy sunday afternoon and drove about 30 minutes from my place deep into the Mountains just west of San Jose into Big Basin. I’ve seen Redwoods before, but I can’t get sick of them. Plus it’s great to know that places like Big Basin are so easily accessible for a casual last minute retreat for a few hours.
On our little hike we came across two labeled trees. The first one: Father of the Forest. I chuckled at myself when i first saw it because, dude, it looks like it has a penis, check it out for yourself:
Then, just down the path, there was another tree: The mother of the forest… this is what she looks like at her base…
Do I just have a dirty mind? You see it, too, right? Is this coincidence? I don’t know… but it’s funny.
